Procrastinate and No Mother's Day Plans? Problem Solved!

Treat Mom to Breakfast on the Brandywine, buy her a gorgeous plant, and enjoy free admission until noon!

Whether you've been too busy to plan for Mother's Day celebration, or want to do something different for Mom this year, visit the Brandywine River Museum of Art on Sunday, May 10 for a delicious meal, a wide selection of presents to give to Mom, plus the exhibition Horace Pippin: The Way I See It, featuring work by an artist who called West Chester home. 

Enjoy a delicious meal in the Museum cafe, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the river. "Breakfast on the Brandywine," will have a special Mother's Day buffet of delicious foods. The cost is $11.95 for adults and $5.95 for children ages 12 and under.

Free admission from 9:30 a.m. to noon. 

Give Mom the gift of flowers--or a shrub, or even at tree.Choose from a superb selection of low-maintenance, beautiful plants at the Wildflower, Native Plant and Seed Sale (May 9 and 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Choose from a wide variety of regional plants and seeds that are suitable for full sun to deep shade and all types of landscapes. Native plants are adapted to localgrowing conditions and require less water and maintenance. Many varieties will attract songbirds, hummingbirds and butterflies and help strengthen the local ecosystem. Conservancy staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide planting and horticultural information. They can help gardeners select plant varieties for gardens and lawns. 

Discover the art of Horace Pippin. One of the leading figures of 20th-century art, Pippin (1888-1946) is known for his insightful, expressive and bold paintings. The exhibition examines the work of Pippin, a self-taught artist who remained independent--creating and upholding a unique aesthetic sensibility. Pippin vividly depicted a range of subject matter, from intimate family moments and floral still lifes to powerful scenes of war, history and religion.

The Brandywine River Museum of Art, located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for seniors ages 65 and over; $6 for students and children ages 6-12; free for children ages five and under and Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art members. Admission is free on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon (except on May 24,during the annual Antiques Show, which is a fundraiser for the Museum Volunteers' Art Purchase Fund, and art education and programming).
