Tour the studios where a young Jamie Wyeth created his first masterworks on special tours offered by the Brandywine River Museum of Art in conjunction with the major retrospective exhibition, Jamie Wyeth, now on view at the Museum. 

The N.C. Wyeth Studio, built by Jamie Wyeth's grandfather, is the place where the young artist studied painting with his aunt, Carolyn Wyeth. Here, Jamie was surrounded by his grandfather's paintings, costumes, and props, including the very cutlasses and muskets that appeared in many of N.C. Wyeth's classic illustrations for Treasure Island, and are still on display today.

The Andrew Wyeth Studio is a restored schoolhouse that was the home of Andrew and Betsy Wyeth and their two sons, Nicholas and Jamie, from 1940 until 1961. Later, the entire structure became Andrew Wyeth's studio, and for a time, a section of the former living room became Jamie Wyeth's first studio. It was here that the artist painted important works including Draft Age and Portrait of John F. Kennedy.

Both studios are National Historic Landmark sites.

Tours will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, from February 6 through March 14,at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m.(weather permitting).The guided tours will leave from the Museum. Limited tickets for this special experience will be available at the Museum on the day of the tour and cost $10 in addition to Museum admission ($5 for members).

The Brandywine River Museum of Art, located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for seniors ages 65 and over; $6 for students and children ages 6-12; free for children ages five and under and Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art members. Admission is free on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon (except on May 24,during the annual Antiques Show, which is a fundraiser for the Museum Volunteers' Art Purchase Fund, and Art Education and Programming).
