Brandywine River Museum of Art's School Field Trip Program Part of Pennsylvania Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

Contributions cover the cost of transportation, museum admission, and educational materials for qualified schools

The Brandywine River Museum of Art's school field trip programs are Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) approved for the 2015-2016 school year. The EITC program gives generous tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to an educational improvement organization, such as the Museum. The contribution may also be deducted for federal tax purposes.

"The Brandywine River Museum of Art is deeply committed to equal access to the arts," said Thomas Padon, director. "The museum's complimentary school field trip program provides students from underserved communities the opportunity to discover the Brandywine's outstanding collection of American art, including the renowned holdings of the Wyeth family of artists. We hope to increase this important program with funds contributed by local businesses that are taking advantage of the Education Improvement Tax Credit."

Last year, the program was supported by the generosity of local businesses, including Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc., Elliott Lewis Corporation and Meridian Bank, as well as a dedicated group of individuals. Since 2008, corporations and donors have made contributions to cover the cost of transportation, museum admission and educational materials for qualified schools. Thousands of school groups have taken part in the program, and for many of these students, it is their first visit to an art museum.

Information about the EITC is available on the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development website. For more information about contributions to the Brandywine River Museum of Art, please contact Kathy Freney Smith at 610.388.8315 or via email at [email protected].
