Virtual Creative Escape: Papercuts with Annie Howe
Join Brandywine online to unwind, mingle and make art!
Designed for adults who want to awaken their inner artists, this virtual program features a hands-on opportunity to explore the art of paper cutting with master papercut artist, Annie Howe. Leave the shopping to us—we’ll assemble a kit for you that contains the supplies you will need for the workshop. Then we’ll gather on Zoom for an in-depth demonstration of the techniques used to create custom papercuts. Annie provides beautifully designed templates for participants to use as a starting point for their papercuts. The remaining workshop time allows for students to create their own spectacular designs with Annie’s guidance. The materials will be yours to keep. No experience necessary. Grab some snacks and your drink of choice, and let’s create together!
Program fee includes: supply kit (containing craft knife, cutting mat, paper templates, and mounting paper), shipping, and the live Zoom program. Participants will need to provide a pencil for sketching designs. Supply kits will be shipped. Please register at least one week prior to the event.
Annie Howe is a celebrated multimedia paper cut artist from Baltimore, MD. Annie’s intricate papercuts are used for a variety of projects including illustration, surface design, and three-dimensional work. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Fiber, she worked for many years creating large-scale puppetry and shadow puppets. As her love for storytelling grew through this large medium, she found her focus as an artist shifting from large 3D objects to that of the smaller more intimate medium of paper. She founded Annie Howe Papercuts in 2010, creating handmade papercuts for businesses, publications, and private collections, and has not stopped papercutting since!
