Join award winning artist and instructor Randall Graham and botanical expert, Janet Ebert for a morning walk to experience Brandywine’s campus and/or meadows and native plantings. Randall will provide an introduction with teaching tips to effectively capture details of the natural surroundings through sketching, while Janet’s native botanical expertise will fuel your curiosity to learn more about the local ecology. The walk will be interspersed with stops to give participants the opportunity to engage in independent sketching.
This walk will take place on uneven, earthen paths that can be muddy. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes that can get wet. Participants should be comfortable walking 1-2 miles at a leisurely pace.
About The Artists
Randall Graham is a local award-winning artist and instructor, known for his personal style of plein air painting. He is represented by Gallery 222 and has exhibited at Winterthur Museum, The Pennsylvania State Museum and Ballinglen Museum Art in Ireland. He teaches traditional painting classes at Graham Painting Studio in the heart of West Chester.
Janet Ebert a local botanical expert and valued partner of the Brandywine Conservancy began conducting studies to document rare, endangered, vulnerable or threatened plant species on lands conserved by the Brandywine. She has completed surveys for National Heritage Programs in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. Other projects have included working with The Nature Conservancy and Audubon of New Jersey. Janet continues to work closely with DCNR by consulting engineering firms on new construction projects requiring further botanical studies.
A spiral sketchbook and pencils are included in the price of registration. Please feel free to bring your own similar supplies if you prefer.
