Creative Escape: Zine-Making and Bookbinding

Embark on a journey to learn about the art of zine-making in this evening workshop! Get inspired by illustrations in our galleries and learn more about the fundamentals of bookbinding with teaching artist Bread Tarleton from The Soapbox: Community Print Shop and Zine Library. Zines are a great way of sharing your ideas with the community, whether that be stories, information, art, poetry, or more. In this class you will learn about 3 styles of zines and 2 bookbinding styles. You can decide what matches your project idea best and by the end you will have a finished zine, several blank zines and small books, along with knowledge of how to produce more copies at home.
All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary. Light snacks will be available and BYOB is encouraged.
The museum galleries will open at 5:30. At 6 p.m. there will be a brief art discussion in one of our galleries for inspiration, followed by the workshop beginning at 6:15 p.m.
