Creative Escape: Foundations in Collage

Come muse and create visual imagery through the artistic practice of collaging. Learn more about the fundamentals and history of collage with multimedia artist Doriana Diaz, and then build your own work of art with magazine clippings, tissue paper, oil pastels, and more. All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary. Light snacks will be provided, and BYOB is encouraged.
The museum will open at 5:30 p.m., with the workshop beginning at 6 p.m.

Doriana Diaz is a multidimensional artist, archivist, and memory worker rooted in Philadephia’s soulful rhythms. She has hosted a wide array of collage and bookmaking workshops around the city in spaces like the African American Museum of Philadephia, Bok Bar, and Harriett’s Bookshop. Her work is an exploration of cultural agency, archival documentation, and rhythms of resistance and expansion.
