Artist Demo: Hand Cut Joinery
Join us for a deep dive into the tools and techniques of woodworking joinery, as shown in our special exhibition, The Crafted World of Wharton Esherick.
Philadelphia woodworker and educator, Larissa Huff, will be in the museum’s second-floor lobby talking about woodworking joinery techniques. After exploring The Crafted World of Wharton Esherick, you might wonder how pieces of furniture are designed and assembled to withstand the test of time. Watch Larissa hand-cut some traditional furniture joinery, handle samples of a variety of joinery types, and learn about how these techniques account for wood movement and the physical demands of human use. This program is included with museum admission.
