Step 1:
Mix all the dry ingredients.

Step 2:
Add water to dry ingredients and mix and knead until dough forms. (If the dough is too crumbly, add warm water a little at a time; if the dough sticks to your hands, add more flour.)

Step 3:
Dust your rolling surface with flour.

Step 4:
Roll out dough until it is about ¼ inch thick.

Step 5:
Use a butter knife to cut out a house shape. Keep doing this until you use all the dough, or use the extra dough to make other cutouts.

Step 6:
Use a straw to poke a hole in the top of the house to make it into an ornament. You can also use things like the butter knife or a skewer to add details. An easy design to make is to use your thumbs to press a heart into the soft dough.

Step 7:
Carefully use a spatula to lift your creations onto a baking sheet.

Step 8:
Bake in the oven for 1.5–2 hours at 200 degrees.

Step 10:
Once dry, string ribbon through the hole of the house, paint the houses and/or glue magnets to the back.
