Knockout Natives
Join Sam Hoadley, the Manager of Horticultural Research at Mt. Cuba Center, online as he highlights knockout native species and cultivars, including top performers and favorites such as Monarda, Phlox, Helenium, Echinacea, wild hydrangea, Carex and Amsonia. These plants represent some of the best native options for the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Sam will discuss their horticultural and ecological performance and will share important information on standouts that will make beautiful additions to your garden.
Sam earned his degree in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture from the University of Vermont. In his role at Mt. Cuba Center, he evaluates native plant species, old and new cultivars, and hybrids in the Trial Garden.
This program is part of Brandywine's new gardening series, "Perspectives in Design," celebrating the diversity of native plant options through the lens of both design and functionality, helping gardeners of all levels select the most appropriate natives for their growing spaces. Join us over the coming months for blended virtual and in-person programs.
