Fall Flaneur at Brandywine

Fall Flaneur at Brandywine

Flaneur: Noun—a stroller, lounger, saunterer

In this guided walk, participants are invited to flaneur along the Brandywine's beautiful trails that Andrew Wyeth once walked and open themselves to the muse of nature. Flaneuring was originally a more urban experience of walking and observing to generate creativity. Walking has long been one of the ways some of our greatest artists and writers have used to find inspiration. Informational rest/reflect stations will be situated for you to encounter along the trails sharing some information and quotes from some of the artists/writers who were/are known for their practice of walking and creating.

The Wyeth family has a long tradition of honoring Halloween by dressing up in costumes and donning creepy makeup. In the spirit of the season, we welcome you to indulge your spooky side by dressing up—costumes are welcomed!

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes that can get wet as trails are not paved and can be muddy—proper flaneur garb! Participants will meet at the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art. The specific meeting location will be sent prior to the event.

Kennett Library will be leading this collaborative walk.
