Brandywine Water Trail, when complete, will be a 22-mile bi-state recreational water route that connects communities, improving access to the Brandywine for increased water recreational use.
The Brandywine Conservancy partnered with the Chester County Planning Commission to study the feasibility of a formal Water Trail along the Brandywine—a popular destination for recreational boaters. The study examined the opportunities, constraints, and challenges presented by a water trail and provides recommendations regarding access, safety, trail amenities, educational opportunities, environmental considerations, long-term stewardship of the Brandywine, and potential partnerships to promote and manage the Water Trail.
Through passing municipal resolutions, the Brandywine Creek Greenway municipalities of Chadds Ford, Downingtown, East Bradford, East Fallowfield, Modena, Pocopson, and West Bradford have all endorsed the Brandywine Creek Water Trail Feasibility Study.
The Brandywine Conservancy continues to work with its municipal and strategic partners to begin implementing recommendations outlined in the Feasibility Report, including improved creek access and expanded trail resources, such as a dedicated webpage and trail map.
